Seeking - Music Therapist

Better Day Club LLC is seeking part-time contracted Board Certified Music Therapist.
Better Day Club is a Music and Memory Certified grassroots Adult Day Program for individuals living with early to later moderate stages of Alzheimer’s and other dementias. We provide social and cognitive non-medical programming. Art Therapy, Speech/Language Therapy for cognition, Music Therapy and Social Work Services are cornerstones of our program. We also provide hot meals, healthy snacks and physical movement. We are located in Bloomington, Indiana.
The ideal candidate enjoys and is skilled in group session work, has a good knowledge of basic counseling and therapeutic methods, various types of dementia and their presentations and their progressions, is energetic and collaborative, and works well within a team. Team values include a demonstration of professional communication skills, self-managing program preparation, integrity in documenting flexible hours and adapting to prioritize the best interests of aging in place group.

Job Responsibilities:
- Provide weekly specialized group music therapy session for individuals across a range of dementias and with diverse abilities within the dementia spectrum.(Friday afternoons are definite, other days negotiable.)
- Build and maintain strong therapeutic relationships with club members, staff, and volunteers.
- Develop therapeutic goals through assessment and evaluation.
- Develop therapeutic music therapy offerings in consultation with the BDC team.
- Participate in team and staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and program events
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in music therapy required
- Board certification or ability to obtain board certification within the first month of contract
- Experience building strong therapeutic relationships with clients
- A demonstrated commitment to meeting high clinical standards in a professional setting, including but not limited to: leading dementia specific groups, songwriting, developing curriculum, showing initiative/innovation, exhibiting leadership skills/problem-solving skills in communicating with team and CEO.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in basic counseling/verbal processing skills
- Promotes a positive and energetic group environment
- Reliable transportation
- Experience working in a group therapeutic setting
- Experience working with individuals with diverse abilities preferred
- Songwriting ability preferred
- Candidate will carry liability insurance and sign a workman’s compensation waiver as a contract employee.

Salary: Commensurate based on market and experience
