Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy students and club members.During Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters, we are joined once a week by graduate students and instructors from the Indiana University, Bloomington, Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences Speech–Language Clinic.

Using techniques such as Reminiscence Therapy, the students provide Neurogenic Communication Assessment and Therapy to club participants, while providing the school's graduate students with clinical experience in a supervised setting.

Laura Karcher and graduate students in their last semester of speech pathology training provide highly social and cognitive “weight lifting” activities that help members to stay sharp. Our speech therapy graduate students also work one on one with some members to provide evaluation and resource supports, work on life history projects as a therapeutic activity.

More information about Reminiscence Therapy, and about this partnership can be found here.
